The 5th conference “National Spatial Data Infrastructure Days” was held in Skopje

THE 5TH CONFERENCE "NATIONAL SPATIAL DATA INFRASTRUCTURE DAY 2024" WAS HELD IN SKOPJE, NORTH MACEDONIA

The Agency for Real Estate Cadastre of North Macedonia (AREC) organized the jubilee 5th Conference “National Spatial Data Infrastructure Day 2024” (NSDI Day 2024) on February 21st and 22nd, 2024, in Skopje. This year’s conference followed current trends regarding spatial data infrastructure both in the region and beyond.

Within four sessions held over two working days, progress in the field of SDIs of countries in the region was presented, emphasizing the significance and benefits of SDIs from the perspective of the academic sector, as well as the benefits from the perspective of everyday spatial data users. The Conference had an international character, with the participation of cadastral agencies from Croatia, Slovenia, Kosovo, Albania, the Netherlands, Greece, as well as representatives from the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On behalf of the Federal Administration for Geodetic and Real Property Affairs, Mr. Jasmin Ćatić participated in the Conference. He delivered a presentation during session 2 on the topic “New SDI Strategy in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina based on IGIF”. The presentation provided an overview of the process of developing a new strategic document for spatial data infrastructure in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, based on latest trends in the field of geospatial data management.

Through various presentations, lectures, and discussions, the importance of spatial data, the need for capacity development, the application of new technologies, and the future of INSPIRE and SDI were highlighted.
